SOLE KINGS


Written and directed by Michael A. Pinckney, (The 25th Hour, Precious, Inside Man) "Sole Kings" follows the lives of five entrepreneurial sneaker enthusiasts as they hustle their way through Brooklyn’s competitive sneaker culture. Produced by Ms. Okema T. Moore, this episodic is a standout for Brooklyn and the kick game.



In the premier episode, Darren (NaShawn Kearse) returns to Brooklyn with his wife Cassandra (Brianna Seagraves), where he has decided to open up a sneaker store, WOODstack.


Trey (Julito McCullum), Darren’s younger brother, is a sneakerhead whose hobby has him in hot water with his girlfriend, Lulu (played by Tiauna Clark)

Michael "Boogie" Pinckney is the founder and managing director of Black Noise Media, a full service production house based in New York City. He got his start over twelve years ago and soon after joined The Director’s Guild of America. He has over 12 years experience as an assistant director on films and television series such as The 25th Hour, 7th Heaven, The Best Man, Law & Order, Inside Man and The academy award nominated film Precious in which he was nominated for a DGA award along with the director Lee Daniels as part of his directing team.


He has also worked as an assistant director on countless TV commercials for clients like Coco Cola, McDonald's Nike, Microsoft and Burger King. Mr. Pinckney has directed short films, commercials, music videos and PSA’s for clients like Goodwill Industries, The NY GIANTS, Select Media, Youth Communications, Def Jam and 4mm Games. He won an award for Excellence in Media from The Black Men’s Film Conference for his HIV film “The Candy Store” and toured the film festival circuit with films from his short film collection. He made his feature film debut with “You’re Nobody til somebody kills you”, a gritty crime thriller Executive Produced by his mentor Spike Lee and distributed by Lionsgate. He’s directed a variety of digital series from “SoleKings”, “Black Actress” to “The Colors of Love” in addition to Producing the award winning digital series “For Colored Boys - Redemption” starring Tim Reid. The Trade is Michael's directorial debut in episodic television drama.
